In N Out Burger. This is always one of my first stops when I get into the US and as far as Im concerned is a bit of a cult classic. Check out the lines at the pop ups in Sydney and Melbourne. Usually Im at one in California, but theyre slowly spreading across America so this one comes from Utah. The Double Double Burger: The Double Double is the perfect size, the single may leave you craving more. The bun is soft but toasted for a nice crunch, special sauce is tasty here but for some can put people off this burger because its pickley and some people are inclined not to like pickles for some reason, I digress, the sauce is followed by fresh lettuce, tomato and onions if you like. Onto the patties; the highlight of the burger, perfect thickness, nicely seasoned and tastes like meat from a cow, very pleasant. They top the patties with that orange American sliced cheese stuff which may or may not be a dairy product at all but its delicious. Fries: I get mine animal style which adds a slice of fore-mentioned cheese, grilled onion and special sauce so again stay away from that option if you suffer from pickle-phobia. My drink of choice is either a pink lemonade or a vanilla thick-shake, perfect amount of vanilla taste and thick, a burgers best bud aside from a frothy Amber beverage. Scores: Burger: I was going to give it a high 4 for modesty but this is my Unicorn and if Anthony Bourdain can call it his favourite restaurant in LA I think it can have the big 5/5 Chips/fries: A nothing special 3 by themselves, they can have a 3.75 from me animal style. Top feed, as always.
