In NSW theyre going to make it a requirement that head contractors keep money in a trust in order to pay subcontractors. The move aims to avoid the non-payment of subcontractors when a head contractor goes bust. Sounds pretty good - it does only apply to projects over $20m though. Oh! and guess what the fine for non-compliance is? $22k Which is just double what you can get fined as individuals for withdrawing your labor. Just saying!
