In Nov 2012,the Kenya Defence Forces turned Garissa into a ghost town. They ran berserk, killing & torturing locals. They looted business premises & employed scorch earth policy where properties & structures were razed,a brutal military tactic used by Samouri Toure in the Franco-Mandikan war.In Nov 2008,Hon Yussuf Hajj Mohamed(the current Garisa senator) and the then Kenyas defence minister authorised the KDF invasion of El Wak,a sleepy border town In Mandera county. The result was massive abuses of human rights.Rape, torture & looting characterised the events. In 1984,the Degodia clansmen were gathered in the Wagalla airstrip in the blazing Northern sun & denied water & food for days. They were gunned down in a reminiscent of Adolf Hitlers killing of the Jews in the Austhwich concentration camp.Garisa faced the same fate in 1969(Bula Kartasi massacre). All these massacres were committed in the name of maintaining security & stamping out banditry. Two years ago,the Samburu bandits converted the Suguta Marmar valley into graveyard after gunning down 42 police officers.Yesterday, the Turkana bandits massacred 24 GSU officers in Kapedo area. The government went casual in both cases. Were the nefarious act to take place in Northern Kenya,am sure our sisters could have been raped, our mothers assaulted, our fathers tortured & children traumatised. The Somali leadership in Kenya are unfortunately political hyenas!
