In October 1960, Brother John Acai(left) and his registered Holstein Friesian heiferFreckles earned two honors, Reserve Champion ribbon and the fitting and grooming award, at the 4-H Dairy Dairy Show held at Warren County Fair in Warrenton, NC. The week prior to this show, Freckles placed in the blue ribbon class and John was awarded a plaque and ribbon for third place in showmanship at the District Dairy Show held at the state fairgrounds in Raleigh, NC.Standing on the right in this Littleton Observer photograph is another Warren County 4-H club member, Bruce Perkinson. Others earning blue ribbons in this show were Bruce Perkinson, Charles Lynch, WF Rooker, Jr, William Bender, Jr. Bradley Vaughan, George Holtzman, Emery Keeter and Billie Seamon. Red ribbon winners were Egerton Rideout, Jr, Larry Vaughan, Gliborn and Robert Rideout. I believe this photograph was made by a county employee frank Reams.
