In Orange Is the New Black, Annie (Norma) is one of Reds most loyal friends at Litchfield, ever since Red arrived. She is known as the quiet one that works in the kitchen, but she does not have a labeled nickname. Though Norma does not speak throughout the whole season, some inmates enjoy her companionship. Norma has been at Litchfield longer than most of the other inmates. She was already working in the kitchen when Red first arrived. The reason for her incarceration is unknown. She spoke at one point when they were having a play and Crazy Eyes chickened out, leaving her to sing the lyrics. Her past is shrouded in mystery. Norma’s shining moment comes during the Christmas pageant when she busts out into a vocal solo. Her powerful and beautiful voice wows the inmates and sends them into a state of disbelief. Her covert nature became unglued when her life was surrounded by drama and she was brave enough to belt out a song. Watch for bigger moments for her in the upcoming seasons. Posted by AM
