In PGH, residents interact with medical students the most. Time - TopicsExpress

In PGH, residents interact with medical students the most. Time and again, I am asked by clerks several challenging questions. But the most challenging, is when they ask sir, what happens when they go home? especially for patients with end stage renal disease requirring chronic dialysis. Of course, I do what I can to educate, ie. importance of prevention, heal systems thinking, philhealth, access to funding etc. but still, I am required to speak the truth. they go home, and suffer needlessly.... Clearly, the clinics without public health is paralyzed. This is what I love best about PGH as a training institution. It has a way of presenting reality in its rawest form. Now, key is to provide tools, innovations, public health models to our students so they will not be ovewhelmed with desperation.
