In Pakistan, millions are at risk of eye diseases due to malnutrition, trauma and genetic factors. One of the main problems is cataract (the clouding of the natural lens inside the eye). If left untreated, it can cause blindness. Human Appeal recently set up eye camps in rural areas of Kashmir where people do not have access to treatment. In the five eye camps we set up (lasting three days each) we treated 3,748 people. Most cataract patients we treated can now see clearly once again. The treatment also helps independence, self confidence, safety and increases life expectancy.
