In Phil. 2:20 Paul offered high praise to Timothy with the words, For I have no one like-minded, who will sincerely care for your state. In other passages Paul would speak of Timothys sincere faith and compare their relationship to that of a father and a son. While we must understand that Timothy made his own choices in becoming the unselfish servant Paul loved, lets not overlook the words of 2 Tim. 3:14, 15 where we see that his upbringing helped prepare him to make the right choices. But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them, and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. From childhood Timothy had been taught the Scriptures and what a difference it made in his life. Parents, there are many things your children need to learn, but none more important than the Holy Scriptures. Please dont neglect the most vital part of your childs education.
