In Reply To Mal. Abubakars propositions: Salaam fellow Muslim brothers & sisters, Mal Abubakar has posted an intelligent and well presented discuss on this forum in which he raised many issues; Thu. 16-01-2014. Though, I have wished we all have gone through but I know some might have not, due to time constraint but I hope they might later. However, in my contribution to his propositions, I have attempted first, to sum up the arguments on the issues he intelligently raised, as follows for clarity. a-Divisions within the Jews, Xtians & Muslims. b-Innovations in Islam c-Emulating Jews & Xtians. d-Question on whether Muhammad (saw) or his companions of the first 2 generations have celebrated his birthday. (Maulud) In responding to the issues above, I have limited my argument based on the Glorious Qur-an only, which every Muslim regardless of sect or ideology believed in, because most Hadith from my perspective, are based on the interest or sect of their authors which I doesnt wants to dwell on for now. Therefore, I will like us to first reflect on the Ten commandments Allah (swt) has urged us, as Muslims to adhere strictly to. In Qur-an chpt 6 vs 151-2 Allah has ode red Prophet (saw) to recite to the Ummah what He has forbidden to them because lawful things are by far much more than those forbidden. And I quote say: come I will recite what your Lord has forbidden to you... (i)-Dont associate anything with Him (Shirk) (ii)-Show kindness to parents (Ihsan) (iii)-Dont kill your children for fear of poverty … (iv)-Dont approach indecencies both in public & private (immorality) (v)-Dont kill an innocent soul. (vi)-Dont misuse the properties of the orphan… (vii)-Do justice in giving measurement and weight. (viii)-Dont do anything that is beyond your ability (ix)-Speak the truth, even if its against a relative. (x)fulfill Allahs covenant (see chpt 2 vs 285 for more on the covenant These are the ten commandments as ordained by Allah (swt). Then in the next verse chptr 6 vs 153, Muhammad (saw) says...This is my path the right one, therefore follow it…dont follow other ways, for they will lead you away from His (Allah stw) way. This verse according to Ibn Kathir, is the reason behind the hadith quoted by Abubakar on sectarian divisions with in Jews & Xtians whom have divided in to 71 & 72 sects respectively and that Muslims will divide in to 73 sects, of which all but one will enter paradise according to the narration. On this, see my post on Sect & Ism on this forum. However, from those commandments, I am of the opinion that, anything out side the donts & within the dos is permissible. So to me, Maulud as I earlier asserts in my previous post, that is free of shirk & indecencies cant be condemned, also emulating jews & Christians in things other than those commandments can be permissible. For example, Western education, development in Science & Technology, dress etc. Moreover, in my next post, I will expatiate on the ten commandments & other issues Mal Abubakar raised one by one based on verses from the Quran, Insha-Allah.
