In Reply to Chukwuemerie Uduchukwu. Dear Chukwuemerie, I have personally taken out time to read and analyse your write-up; I must confess it took so much courage and conviction to come up with such revelations. However,I must let all of us know that the Catholic priesthood is a divine calling. The vow of Celibacy, poverty and obedience undertaken by the priests on the day of their ordination is never forced on them but wholly accepted by the individual. He accepted to give up everything for the kingdom and it is one decision that changes everything in his life from that moment. However, theyre human beings and they live in a secular world. The best we can do for them is to pray and beg God to grant them the grace to overcome the temptations that come their way on daily basis. If a priest slips and reneges on his vow by being romantically involved with any individual,it is up to him to decide whether to renounce his vows or work hard towards conquering his limitations. The Holy Roman Catholic Church cannot, because her priests are having hard times in living up to their vows, decide to renege on its teachings or make loose its doctrines. Just as God will not change his commandments because the present world is filled with immoralities. If youre friendly with the priest, talk to him about his actions and how it has negatively affected the respect you have for him. If you cant, look for a close friend of his who is also a priest and tell him about it. If all these fails, you can write to the diocesan welfare authorities and the situation will be perfectly handled. By all means brother Emerie, some faint hearted christians are very weary and cant stand scandalous actions;its left for me and you to protect their faith. May we continue to pray for each other as we run this race of heaven, hopefully, when we mustve succeeded in getting to the Promised Land, youll pass me a glass of water and thank God for the gift of grace for the race.
