In Revelation Chapter 12 The bible speaks of a place in Jordan that we know as Petra, an archaeological site that was built during the 6 - 4 BCE centuries by the Nabataean culture. The architecture is heavily influence by Roman forms. God declares that It is a place of refuge for the remnant of Israel that flees from the advance of the antichrist after he places himself in the temple and claims to be God at the midpoint of the Tribulation. Christian organizations have placed food and bibles in the crags and rocks knowing that it is here that God refers to in the following scripture (my comment in parenthesis): when the dragon (Satan) saw that he was thrown down to the earth, he persecuted the woman (Israel) who gave birth to the male child (Jesus). But the two wings of the great eagle were given to the woman, so that she could fly into the wilderness to her place, where she was nourished for a time and times and half a time (the last 3 1/2 years of the tribulation), from the presence of the serpent (Satan). God will protect a great many of His people Israel and this is where they will find refuge in Him. - GWH
