In Romania,bicycles have become fashionable,only in recent years, annual sales reaching 380,000 pieces in a population of 19.5 million.The annual output amounts to 450,000 bicycles bikes and 4% of total EU production in a market clearly dominated by Western economies,Germany and Italy which together have a market share of almost 40%. In 2014,it was estimated that Romanians spend annually about 45 million bicycles,paying on average 120 euros on a two-wheeled vehicle,an amount four times less than that paid by the Germans and six times less than that given the Dutch.The total production-the parts and finished products-amounted to €245 million. In 2013,Romania ranks third in the European Union the production of components and accessories for bicycles,with deliveries amounting to € 200 million in 2011,representing 15 % of the total, just under German result in a dominant top of Italy.In Germany there was worth 210 million euro (16%),and in Italy production value was 420 million (32%).Romania was also fourth in the EU depending on the number of jobs provided by the bicycle industry , 800.The highest ranking stood in Italy,Germany and France.The largest bicycle factories and Resita Romania Deva are owned by Eurosport DHS and Decathlon respectively.
