In September, 1909 his dream {Markle} came off the ways of the Pope Dock Company to startle the showboat world. Biggest and Finest had been used too often to be adequate to describe this new palace theater. She was two hundred feet long and forty five feet wide, with 21 boxes on two levels clustered about the stage and all around the front of the balcony. Her capacity was fourteen hundred. On the outside she was plain, almost to the point of severity, the least ornate of all the big showboats. But on the inside she was the most highly decorated of them all. the stage and auditorium seemed to be modeled after the Majestic Theater in Denver, Colorado. Ceilings and walls were studded with 25 hundred lights clustered in intricate designs. Gilt friezes and highly wrought brass decorated balcony and box railings. Draperies and upholstery were of red velour, and the floor was richly carpeted. Full- length wall-mirrors exaggerated the size of the spacious auditorium. the stage, large and elaborately decorated in frieze and gilt, was well equipped with three drops and eight sets.
