In September, the SandwichFirst program asks you to look at the business services your businesses uses and switch to locally owned service providers for office supplies, graphic design, legal and tax support and for computer and technology needs. In years past, because we lived on the Cape, big box stores were not a threat. But with every town needing to increase their revenue base, big box stores will soon be dotting the landscape of Cape Cod. Obviously this will have a major impact on how we compete and structure our pricing. Though we cannot compete on price, we have to find new innovative ways to draw the customer in and experience what only a small local business can offer. For example one of the most popular services that are offered today is remote access and offsite Cloud backup solutions; this allows a business or individual to securely and efficiently store information offsite and will have means for faster backup and a more reliable recovery whenever they need it. While forecasting technology trends can be tricky, it is safe to say that the job of safeguarding data to the cloud is here to stay. Staying ahead of the curve with the new generations of technology is necessary to protect yourself and your business. Who better to help protect your business than someone in your own community, someone who has gotten to know you and cares about the success of your business. Please take a look at your service providers and ask yourself do they really know my business and do they really care? We have a lot of great service providers in Sandwich that truly want Sandwich businesses to be successful!
