In South Korea, the scientists used a magnetic field to make cancer cells self-destruct. The body removes old cells, defective, and infected through the process of programmed cell death (PCD), or apoptosis. In apoptosis, the cell responds to certain signals rejected from the body by fragmentation. Immune cells immediately consume these fragments. The magnets help activate apoptosis. When apoptosis fails, however, rejected if the cells divide uncontrollably developing tumors. The magnets induce apoptosis Professor Jinwoo Cheon of Yonsei University in Seoul and a team of scientists conducted experiments with cells from bowel cancer using magnetic fields to induce apoptosis. Nanoparticles of iron were attached to antibodies that bind molecules "receiving" the tumor cells. These molecules are grouped, when the magnetic field is applied, causing the sign of "self-destruction" and thus apoptosis. Experiment, more than half of colon cancer cells were destroyed when the sign of the group began apoptópico to take effect. untreated cells remained unchanged and unscathed.
