In Tibet, one of my masters told me, they had universities full Geshes and scholars who could debate perfectly non-duality He said it was ironic that peoples subtle egos were solidified by their knowledge of no ego. Intellect is the Kingpin of existence when it owns you. God exists or doesnt exist depending on your intellect. The worlds economy should be how your intellect sees it. Spiritual people should behave how your intellect sees it. Because it is impossible to fit through this eye of the needle one who is intellectual stands aloof, above others. They may talk to friends but deep down they are simply waiting for the other to reach their own view point. This pride is what the mystics call the worst of delusions. You cant tell someone who knows, because they already know. This points to friendly communion. The exploratory openness of wanting to learn, share, but most importantly FEEL and be affected by another human being or living organism. This intimate expansion, laughter, non seriousness, precious holding of life, my master told me was ignored by the vast majority of spiritual practitioners who thought it simplistic. They were more concerned by Tantra and Non-duality. We can pretend were being intimate by practicing Tantra but all we do is create a contrived cocoon of intimacy training that means we stay in control of how we behave. Its like the intellectual equivalent of feelings. The way of Zen or Being is to be in love with ordinary life. To not practice intimacy but to be intimate however that unfolds without questioning it but enjoying it rather like a simplistic child. This is not good for the ego because the ego loves to make a show of intimacy or a show of knowledge. Choboji
