In Vivo is conducting a 2 day workshop on Counselors Dilemmas - weekend course. CONTENT: As counselors we have to make various choices in our interaction with our clients. Most of those choices do not have black and white options to choose from. Counselors are expected to use their discretion in making such difficult choices. The idea behind this workshop is to discuss how to actually use this discretion…to try and understand the process behind making these choices and learn about how REBT could help in dealing with the disturbances that come with the process. Some sample points of discussions could be: • Extent of the Counselors’ Responsibility • Counter-transference issues • Warmth in the psychotherapeutic interaction – how much is too much? • Solving practical problems v/s emotional problems • Unconditional acceptance of the client • Kid-gloves treatment to the client We could have case presentations of the kind of dilemmas that people have had in their own practices.
