In Washington School, third graders in Geri Kropiewnicki’s class participated in a hands-on lab activity where they investigated onion cells. Use of stereo-microscopes and hand lenses allowed students to compare the various layers of an onion and the different types of cells found in each. Students completed a lab report that included diagrams and responses to critical thinking questions about the activity.
