In a conversation Marcia and I once had we established that nobody really knows what true love is. It cant be defined, it cant be sought and it certainly cannot be manufactured. We did however stumble upon a very real truth. Everyone finds out over time and through experience what true love isnt. Therefore, by process of elimination, avoiding what we know isnt love, we can find happiness and by default happen upon true love, if were lucky.....Well something like that, wed had a few. Anyway, three years ago today we were married. Wed compared our lists of unwanted traits, we dared to let the other dream and we never once put limits or bounderies on our wishes. By looking to the future weve reconciled our pasts and in Gwendoline we have the perfect motivation to guide our decisions in days to come. All the while well keep hold of our own dreams and aspirations, empowering her to be confident, daring and free. Its not been all plain sailing but neither has it been continous tumult and storms. Weve laughed together and cried together and weve shared some of the best days of our lives so far. Weve leant on one another and found strength in each others embrace during the darkest of days. Surely then we have found true love..... My dear dad read these words from my favourite hymn at our wedding and they mean more to me now than ever before...... Drop Thy still dews of quietness, Till all our strivings cease; Take from our souls the strain and stress, And let our ordered lives confess The beauty of Thy peace. As the Bales move on over the coming years, fulfilling dreams, making wishes and supporting each other through the rough and smooth may we never find, in each other, anything else to add to the list labelled true love isnt........ Happy anniversary Marcia. x
