In a few days I am going to be 58 years old. No biggie, glad to be - TopicsExpress

In a few days I am going to be 58 years old. No biggie, glad to be alive, but this is from another point of view, important - my pension from the EPFO department should start. Either lumpsum or per month. Obviously it wont happen that easily, and till a few months ago, one could have whistled goodbye to most of it, as unconnected EPFO accounts from Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai would take forever and physical visits to EPFO offices to get things started. Just to get my own EPFO dues from a Delhi office took me over 3 years, to give you an example, despite tenacity and persistence, but by the end of it I knew how to and did help many other people - including some I spotted hanging around outside the EPFO office almost begging and crying for their own money and some online. The big response I got from the assorted bunch at EPFO was that I was stirring things up as a trouble-maker, because many heads would roll if sample cases like mine or of those others were taken up for deeper audits. Good, I said, and handled the assorted threats I got by filing a barrage of counter RTIs and PGs. The recent bamboo stick prodded up EPFO by the Indian Government changes many things-and gives people a chance to (a) get their own money back from wherever it went and (b) start processes which will catch the crooks who may have embezzled it. So heres my 58th birthday gift to others- 1) If you ever worked in India and had EPFO deducted from your wages at any stage and are now 58 or over (or if the person is deceased but you were a nominated spouse/parent/sibling) you need to know only some basic details - maybe salary statement, EPFO account number, or similar, and if not even that, then the name of the company to start with. 2) If you are under 58 and not working or not getting EPFO deducted and want your money back, then also you need to know only some basic details - maybe salary statement, EPFO account number, or similar, and if not even that, then the name of the company to start with. I shall gladly help people work their own money back from EPFO. However, God also helps those who help themselves, so take a little bit of time out to go through the relevant aspects here. Please feel free to share. By not claiming your dues from EPFO, or those of the large number of workers who simply do not know how to reach their own money, we are perpetuating a scam which I first learnt about when the Seafarers Provident Fund was embezzled by the Sachin Tendulkar Hritihik Roshan and others involved HOME TRADE scam. It got me very angry then, and still does. epfindia/index.html
