In a few days it will be Christmas. It was a simple day when a simple man was born in a barn. Not a castle. Not adorned with gold. Not blessed with riches. Jesus was born to bring humility to this world and knowledge. He did not ask for temples as high as clouds be built in his name. He did not ask for chariots of gold to carry him or for people to bow in his presence. He spoke on the banks of rivers and tops of mountains. He spoke to those that he felt needed to hear his message. He did not limit his audience to believers and those without sin. He touched the hands of the sick. He held the hands of sinners and prayed. He humbled himself in the presence of the poor. And we dare to be ashamed to say Merry Christmas, which simply means we are celebrating the birth of Christ. We dare to tell others to not use the word Christmas in government offices, even though we cannot deny that this nation was built on the principles of our God and His blessings! There are parades for famous people on their birthday. Martin Luther King, one of the men I respect the most. He fought for the rights of Black and minorities. Jesus fought for the world. Caesar Chaves fought for the rights of Hispanics. Jesus died on the cross for all of us, no matter the race. There are parades for Thanksgiving, but we cant say Merry Christmas. Thanksgiving was a day set aside for giving thanks for the blessings of this nation. Who do you think they meant for us to thank? GOD! You have the right to not say Merry Christmas and you also have the right to follow your own faith. But do not forget, we all have the same right and the right to be called a Christian and the right to say Merry Christmas is as strong as any right we have. So Merry Christmas to all. For it will be a celebration of a great man that did so much for so many and asked for nothing in return.
