In a frank and informative interview, Jérôme Vacher, the International Monetary Funds representative for Ukraine, discusses Ukraines dire economy, the precarious state of Ukrainian banks, the falling currency, the impact of the war, and possible sources for desperately needed funding, which, according to Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin, now exceeds $30 billion. Vacher says the Ukrainian government has already demonstrated that it is ready to implement reforms, unlike the governments of Yulia Tymoshenko and Mykola Azarov. He also acknowledges the devastating impact of the war and explains that even a declaration of martial law would not necessarily preclude IMFs cooperation with Ukraine.
