In a little over 24 hours our baby girl Stephanie is starting a new phase of her life by celebrating her first day of High School! (You forgive me for calling you baby, right Stephie? Because you will be my baby forever and I love you!!) I am so excited for her to have the opportunity to spend the next four years applying her leadership skills in High School and inspire others to live a life of responsibility and accountability by being a shining example in the midst if a world that settles for second best. What Stephanie and I got to experience together over the past few months borders on flat amazing. We visited numerous National Parks together, watched a fashion show at Las Vegas Fashion Mall over great pizza, watched the sun rise over the Grand Canyon, attended the Miss USA pageant finals, recorded our own special episode of MTV Cribs, took "The Dam Tour" and dined under the stars and healed our relationship by spending the time together I as a dad failed to make available for the past several years. In teenage language, we were hanging out together and having a blast!! Stephanie also had the opportunity to participate in two teen leadership classes where she gained confidence in herself and her strengths and among other things developed a contract for herself to live by and to shine like the bright star she really is! She also experienced that irresponsible behavior sometimes leads to tragedy. One of her friends from the first class was killed in a tragic accident that was completely avoidable. She is a powerful, unique person and thrives to live by that no matter how challenging it may get. Just be kind next time someone cuts you off in traffic to experience that.... Together we also came up with a family contract and we are a loving, accepting, forgiving family. Those were her choices by the way... So I look forward to seeing her later today at home so we can go to orientation night together and if you like I will walk or drive you to school on your first day at Greenbrier East (unless of course you prefer to ride the loser cruiser... :-)...) I am excited to see you at the airport in Lewisburg in just a few hours!
