In a new study at Yale the virus was shown to eliminate 70% of melanoma tumors in mice. Researchers credit the virus’s ability to attack the tumor before the immune system eradicates the virus. However, it was also shown in some instances that when the immune system began to attack the virus, it would also attack tumor cells. Melanoma is a less common skin cancer that is responsible for 75% of all skin cancer deaths. More info: bit.ly/14GKj3n Photo credit: National Cancer Institute
