In a parallel universe, there is a planet called Earth where all evidence points toward a young earth where the first pair of humans were created by a deity. The oldest rock specimens indicate an age of about 6,000 years, and the deepest rock layers have produced fossils of humans, dinosaurs, and a variety of other kinds of life. They call the study of life there Christianity, and it has turned up evidence of a deity that created everything instantaneously. According to current evidence, this deity saw fit to sire a son by a human woman to help the humans there find their way. His name is Jesus and he regularly appears to all, reiterating his plans to each and every human being so no one has to hear it from another human. A competing theory called evolution somehow manages to emerge, against all reason. This theory is held to by some who dug up texts written by desert dwellers who claimed that all life developed slowly, over millions of years, from some very basic life form. In spite of the many fossils of snakes that had human-like tongues and the apparent ability to communicate with humans, these evolutionists claim that talking snakes are absurd. Because they have a sentence in their ancient text claiming that snakes could never talk, they stubbornly hold to their belief that Christianity is false. No matter what fossils you show them, or what evidence you lay before them, they maintain that their texts are infallible and therefore you are wrong. It comes down to one thing: they cannot bear to live in a world where there is a god. Therefore, they claim against all evidence to the contrary that god doesnt feed the starving, he didnt create the world 6,000 years ago, and Jesus isnt real. This in spite of the fact that all evidence points toward a young earth, no child has ever starved to death, and Jesus appears regularly to all! All we can figure is that they have somehow been convinced that a sentence in an ancient book holds more weight than all available evidence. Ironically, they have further convinced themselves that those who do step back and allow the evidence to shape their conclusions are doing the very opposite! Their book praises as honest and virtuous those who believe things without seeing them. Their hero Charles Darwin said blessed are you when men revile you and blessed are you when you believe without seeing. Because of this they feel they are somehow virtuous for having their beliefs mocked and basing their beliefs on nothing but the texts. On the other hand, their beliefs often cause them to be honest, kind, and compassionate. Not that others arent - but their beliefs specifically command them to. They believe that if they arent, theyll be tortured forever - so they arent better than anyone else - they are just as interested in self-preservation as the rest. I guess its beneficial for their society on some level. Evolutionists may seem to be in denial of the evidence, but I guess it pans out for society.
