In a relationship; when love and emotional chemistry becomes stronger than your rational behavior, you and your partner are bound to make decisions based on your feelings alone without considering the possible effect in the future. It is wise for you and your partner to find out what your blood genotype is, long before you even consider marriage. Your blood genotypes are inherited through the contributions from your dad and mum. Its either your genotype is AA, AS or SS. People with SS genotype are those with sickle-cell anemia syndrome commonly known as (sickler). Now lets do the calculations with you and your partner: You + your partner= your children AA + AA= all AA i.e 100% AA children AA + AS= 75% AA and 25% AS children SS + AS= 75%SS and 25%AS children SS + SS=100% SS children AA + SS=100%AS children. AS + AS= 50% AS, 25% AA and 25%SS children. If you say you love yourselves and you go ahead and get married; remember your happiness is what matters in marriage. It is not a crime for AS to get married to AS, but if both of you truly love each other, you will be happy to stay apart and put an end to that courtship because It is always the dream of every married couple to have a future they will be happy forever. A future where they will give birth to healthy kids. A future where when both of you are sleeping peacefully and waking up the next morning to thank God for the gift of life because you both have healthy and beautiful children. Now imagine, you have a future where you gave birth to kids and one or 2 of them takes you to the hospital everyday and you go to churches for prayer because he or she is an SS. A future where in spite of the too much money you have you are not happy spending it because you feel the pain one of your children who is an SS. At that time, if you were to wish for one thing, what will you beg God for? You will wish you could turn back the hands of time and make a different decision in choosing a partner that whose genotype matches with your own; but then it would be too late. We are humans with emotions, no one will be happy to see his or her children go through untold pain no matter how much love you and your partner have for eachother. Your real love for each other will make you to separate now and find someone who is compatible with you. Forget about the emotional attachment and how you feel, think about the long term result which is how your innocent kid will feel. Dont worry, you will surely find a compatible partner even people with SS genotype can find someone who is AA to marry them. If God has not spoken to you to marry someone who is not compatible with your genotype; please dont tempt God by saying a miracle will happen. You will never dare to marry someone who is HIV positive. Will you? If you know someone is HIV positive, will you marry the person and say miracle will happen? So in the same way; be wise and sacrifice how you feel now for a happy future.
