In a section on the persecution of Early Christians in Rome... Was Christianity to be regarded in the Roman Empire as a new religion? The Jews insisted that it was not Judaism. Christians were equally emphatic that their religion was the true Judaism, that they preached nothing which had not been foretold by Moses and the Prophets. How should the Roman authorities view the case? -Roland H Bainton, Early Christianity The Early Christians did not see themselves as separate from Judaism, but rather they felt that Jesus (as) had given them the true and correct understanding of the same religion that God had revealed to all of his Prophets (as). It was only later that Christianity became a religion distinct from the earlier traditions. So in this sense at least, the Early Christians thought much the same way that we do in Islam, that there is only the one religion of submission to God, Islam, and that it has been revealed over and over through the ages by Gods prophets and messengers. A few centuries later, God would send one last prophet with one last book to repeat this very message. He has certainly succeeded who purifies himself, and mentions the name of his Lord and prays. But you prefer the worldly life, while the Hereafter is better and more enduring. Indeed, this is in the former scriptures, the scriptures of Abraham and Moses. -God, The Quran, 87:14-19
