In addition... Jeff Roorda is the person behind the Support Officer Wilson GoFundMe campaign. Jeff Roorda was FIRED from the police force (he was an officer in Arnold, outside of St. Louis) in 2001 for making false statements/falsifying reports. Hes now a Missouri state Representative for the Democratic party, endorsed by Gov. Jay Nixon. Earlier this year, Roorda sponsored a bill that would have kept the names of officers involved in shootings secret unless they were charged. He can be seen in the video below arguing that video of police should only be used to help police officers and not hold them accountable for wrong doing caught on tape. He defends a police officer caught on video punching a handcuffed suspect and claims the officer did nothing wrong and that the handcuffed suspect lunged at the officer when its clear no such thing happened (funnily enough, the officer who punched the handcuffed suspect can be heard making the same false accusation later in the video...interesting how thats always the excuse: he lunged, he went for my gun, he charged me). That Roorda was able to work in law enforcement (as the chief of police in one area, no less) after being fired for making false reports against a suspect and is now running for reelection as a Democratic candidate (so much for this being a right vs left issue...) is evidence of a lack of checks and guidelines on police misconduct.
