In addition to rising crime with rising emissions, as I noted in an earlier posting, there is rising wars and large-scale conflicts with rising emissions, as this incisive piece notes about Syria. The mega-drought creates perfect storm conditions, and how a government responds to the social upheaval in its wake makes all the difference between escalation into civil and trans-national wars or wisely recognizing the need for meaningful adaptations for a more resilient, "anti-fragile" society living in an uncertain, disruptive era. And even more importantly, all governments collectively recognizing the need for rapid, deep and continuous reductions in GHG emissions to zero as fast as possible.
