In addition to the buzz that comes w/discovering these old vinyl - TopicsExpress

In addition to the buzz that comes w/discovering these old vinyl records, Im really getting an education on the musicians/composers/arrangers/collaborations involved in their making. Not only is the info on the back covers/liner notes fascinating - like the details Darrell Brogdon inserts during the RCH - but increasingly, I find myself on the internet seeking more & more info...If I continue at this rate - plus seriously upgrade my turntable & system - building an underground martini bunker just may be in my future! Itll come in handy when my wifes had enough & throws me out :) Two days ago I got a box of records from a storage unit belonging to my mother-in-law (w/her permission, of course!) Most are in decent condition, however some are in poor shape. Not done listening to them all but here are several that interest me so far. Music For Lovers Only by Jackie Gleason is terrific as Id expected, & I want more. Environments (Disc 9: Pacific Ocean & Caribbean Lagoon) is strange but kinda cool - one (entire) side has the sounds youd hear at a beach; the other, sounds from a lagoon (similar to the beach, but quieter waves w/insect & bird sounds). And Las Vegas, Prima Style by Louis Prima w/Keely Smith, which is a lotta fun; & who doesnt love Smiths voice?
