In all my years if fundraising (street-side canning mostly), Ive learned this to be true in one form or another. For every dollar Ive ever scraped from friends that are well off, or people driving a Benz, wearing Armani, or sporting a Rolex, Ive earned 10 from a non-white, tired-mom-driven, beat up minivan with two cars seats and Cheetos all over the floor, or quiet mechanic in a well maintained jalopy-whos dollar bills still smell like grease, and elderly who take the time to pull over because their extra dollar is tucked away neatly inside a fixed-income purse or wallet. We live in a society of haves and have-nots and it seems that the giving heart is a condition of the have-nots.
