In all of Nigerias political history, none of the acclaimed - TopicsExpress

In all of Nigerias political history, none of the acclaimed Prophets have clearly and categorically predicted the outcome of an election result, whereas academic political professors agree in the uniqueness and unpredictability of Nigerian election; political pundits and schemers on either side of the Isle attempts to speculate on the potentials of candidates, resources, political parties, other affiliations, cultural and socio-political tendency of a given area in an attempt to determine which direction or outcome, an election is likely to sway. Gullible investors, political gamblers, and especially hopeful and unemployed youths are some of the casualties of the hyper sensitive invocation of the tensions stirred by these speculators and their threats of fire and brimstone. Please permit me to refer to these victims as The Grass. Case in point is that of Rivers state, which has so divided the state, even into families and direct siblings. At the inception of the political imbroglio between the wife of the president, Dame patience Jonathan and Governor Rotimi Amaechi, Some distinguished clergy men, a respected college of Bishops attempted to intervene on the impasse and 16 bishops from the South-south geo-political zone paid her a visit in Abuja. The First lady in an attempt to tell her side of the story gave a detailed account to the possible reason(s) for the root cause of the problem, but for the sake of this paper, I would rather emphasize on her concluding remark. I also want you to know the genesis of this problem and pray that God touches Amaechis heart as per his hot temper because when two elephants fight, it is the grass that suffers, Evidently, it this Grass that will suffer that my attention is drawn to. Incidentally, there is an assumption that the grass is unaware of the potential danger and/or does not possess the capacity to move from the Elephants battlefield. Unknown to these political spectators and pawns who are blind to the fact that beneath the surface of most Nigerian conflicts will be found inordinate greed for public resources, A contention which gets worse with the apparent and definite transitionning from Governor Amaechi to one only known to God. Interestingly, it is worthy of note that Governor Amaechi while in the PDP, was promoted by the party as one of their shinning stars who performed excellently well in almost all spheres of governance, Security in his state had became top ranking in the country, health and education sectors were rated world class by his party the PDP, people wondered where he was getting money to build the number of roads in the state, he took on Mega visionary projects the Monorail and greater Port Harcourt city. He was definitely a hands on governor rated by the entire country as only next to Lagos States Fashola and with just a swipe of one speech by the first Lady, who snatched the microphone from him, the cookie came down crumbling, with seizure of the states Aircraft and then soku oil wells and giving same to Bayelsa State, threats upon threats, plots and political manoeuvres to topple him as Governor and Chairman of Nigerias Governors forum ( 5 became greater than 24, 16 greater than 19), the party structure kicked out, Changes to his security apparatus, bedevilled by an estranged police commissioner who acted with impunity, His focus undoubtedly changed. Amaechi had to fight for his two lives, Physical and political. These distractions became apparent to the citizens of the state. He outwitted his detractors and joined the APC, which brought back an appreciable level of focus to his administration. But in all the people of Rivers State were the losers to the chaotic mess inflicted by Abuja power block. When they call him stubborn and hot tempered, it only goes to show that in truth he was on the side of the people. The flipside of this, is that the courage of the Governor has earned both national and international respect. Courage has two sides as noted by Winston Churchill - Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen. One of my friends would always say, a man whose house is on fire does not chase a rat. The people of Rivers state need to understand that they have no other home to run to, and the enthronement of peace should be paramount, for their sakes and that of their future generation. Every crisis is personal and the fight to uproot the evil inflicted upon the Rivers people from Abuja ,that has slowed the wheel of development , that has so fragmented the political life of our people, that has stagnated and worsened our security in the state is personal. Every right thinking Rivers man must THINK RIVERS,PROTECT RIVERS AND SAVE RIVERS. Rivers people must arise and stand on the side of truth, marching in synergy with #The Amaechi I know# and put Rivers State back on the path of development and security for the sake of our childrens future. The time for CHANGE IS NOW. Flow with the rhythm and vote out cluelessness, impunity and outright petty stealing . The CHANGE IS HERE. This CRISIS IS THE RIVERS CRISIS and together we must vote out the political Ebola called PDP and vote in the APC as a cure to the biggest impediment to governance in Nigeria - cluelessness. Ooo oh!! Dem don take light. 92% of Nigerians who struggle to make a living irrespective of the ups, downs and hiccups they face spend 40% of their take home pay creating their own power zzzzzzzzzz!!!!!!
