In all the things going on in America and the world, there are - TopicsExpress

In all the things going on in America and the world, there are plenty of things to be fearful or anxious about: The economy is bleaker than ever with predictions of a devastation that will be worse than the great depression; The government is slowly taking away more and more of our freedoms with seemingly very few people doing anything about it; The Islamic terrorist appear to be gaining popularity even in the United States, with rumors of terrorist camps scattered throughout America; Christian persecution is at an all time high both here and abroad! Then there are the age old fears of dogs, flying, failure, rejection, pain, death and on and on! What are we to do amidst all these fears? The Bible has a lot to say about fear. Some say there are over 365 references to a form of “fear not”, others say no way you can only find about 100. Well there isn’t a version of the Bible that specifically 365 times says, “Fear not.” I read an article that said the King James Version says “Fear not” or “Be not afraid” 103 times, but not 365 times. So why do some say that there are more than 365 “Fear nots” in the Bible? “Fear” is spoken of over 500 times in the KJV. In addition to the “Fear nots” many times the Bible teaches us to “Fear God,” which really means trust in God alone and do not fear anyone or anything else and when you take into account verses encouraging us not to worry or not to be anxious, there are many, many more “Fear not” Scriptures. I do not remember this personally but I have been told when I was little I had a line to say that was, “it is I; be not afraid.” But instead it came out as “Don’t be afeerd, it ain’t nobody but me!” The point is, no matter how the Bible or we say it, when we place our faith and trust in Jesus, He can and will calm our fears. When we know that we know that we have, by faith in Him, overcome death and the world we can pray the prayer of Psalm 56;1-13, (Prayer for Relief from Tormentors), that David prayed: “3Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You. 4In God (I will praise His word), In God I have put my trust; I will not fear. What can flesh do to me?”
