In an article by Zaid Jillani, Rutgers Hillel Executive Director Andrew Getraer was caught making disturbing allegations against the Rutgers Muslim community in a leaked Twitter conversation. In a Daily Targum article from this Wednesday, Director Getraer stated “everything he posted was factual”. This incident has prompted this response from the Executive Board of the Rutgers University Muslim Student Association: As a leader, you inherently set the purpose and direction of your organization. As the Executive Director of Rutgers Hillel, one of the largest religious institutions here at Rutgers University, Andrew Getraer is creating a hostile environment between students of different faiths with his divisive and ignorant views about the Muslims of Rutgers. At such times of heightened tension, religious leadership need to be inspiring tolerance and unity, not fear and suspicion.
