In an effort to ensure that Mineola Bicycle Club meets the diverse needs of all riders and to ensure that members have an active role in ride related matters, we would like to form a Ride Committee. The Ride Committee will be made up of four Ride Commissioners; one each representing a ride category: AA, A, BB, B, plus myself. Responsibilities of the Ride Commissioner(s) will include: - Securing a roster of qualified ride leaders for their designated category, which may include themself (we already have some leaders available). - Identify and develop a library of applicable routes for their rides category. - Create and make available applicable GPS files or cue sheets. - Secure and design a ride leader (and sweeper if applicable) and route for each regularly scheduled group ride of their category. - Communicate the leader, route and any other pertinent information to the facebook administrator by the weekly deadline for posting to the club members. - Gather input and feedback from the riders that actively participate in their ride category and propose any changes or adjustments to the ride format, new rides, schedule amendments or related matters to the Ride Committee for vote and adoption. Ride Commissioners will meet with me on a monthly basis (more frequently if needed) to propose any new changes to the club rides. The four Ride Commissioners and myself will each have 1 vote (total 5) in order to approve or disapprove of any new ride related matter (by simple majority). NOMINATION: If you are interested and able to serve as a Ride Commissioner for the remainder of this season, please nominate yourself for consideration by contacting me directly (Barry@mineolabicycle) indicating the ride category you would like to represent. (You should be at or above the abilities of the ride category you represent.) Please make your submissions by Monday, August 18. ELECTION: Club membership will vote from a list of nominated Ride Commissioners at a club meeting by secret ballot. Ballots will be tabulated and results communicated at the meeting. Date TBD.
