In an effort to recruit and hire Police Communication Operators (PCO) more efficiently, the Maryland State Police Human Resources Division (HRD) will open a statewide recruitment from May 28, 2014 through June 11, 2014. The recruitment will be posted on the State of Maryland Department of Budget and Management’s (DBM) website (dbm.maryland.gov) for 2 weeks only. The results of the recruitment will be used to create an eligibility list that will be used for 1 year. After the June 11, 2014 closing date, the applicants will be contacted by DBM and advised of a date and location where they will be tested. The test will be offered regionally at TBD locations throughout the State. HRD receives numerous calls from Maryland State Police employees inquiring about PCO positions. It is important for anyone who is aware of a person interested in applying to be a PCO that they advise them to apply on the above website between May 28, 2014 and June 11, 2014. Failure to apply during this time will eliminate an individual from applying for 1 year or until the test is offered again.
