In an interview with Heart Yorkshire David Cameron spoke about A&E and creating a Northern Powerhouse. He said: First of all I’d say is a big thank you to the hard working staff in A&E who have done a great job under huge pressure. Second of all I’d say the money is there, we need to make sure it’s spent to deliver the extra doctors and nurses that will help. In Leeds if you take the year to date it should be 95% of people coming to A&E being seen within four hours, currently in the year to date it is 94.6%. I certainly never forget about the importance of Hull as a great British city and if we look at the employment situation the claimant count is down by more than a third since 2010, jobs are being created and they are being taken up by people in Hull. Our vision for the Northern Powerhouse is to link together across the Pennines the great cities of the north of England obviously including Hull, because if you take the great strengths of Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds, Hull and you combine them, you actually then have got a proper counterpoint to London and the south of our country. The Humber Local Growth Deal had £103 million creating 9,000 jobs and enabling 5,000 homes to be built.
