In an old nightclub in Newark, an urban food revolution is growing underway.... AeroFarms have created an aeroponic growing system that uses just a fabric cloth to holds the seeds (and eventually plants) in place. Thats right, plants growing on cloth! Using Controlled Environment Agriculture, they are able to control all the environmental variables like light intensity, humidity, air & water temperature, airflow and specific nutrient ratios, to name but a few. By have such tight control over the growing environment, they are able to produce leafy greens and herbs within 16 days, compared to 30 days using conventional methods. Growing indoors allows 22 crop rotations a year, compared to the three rotations produced outdoors in soil. In 2015 theyre aiming to complete their new 80,000 square foot facility to be able to provide a nutrient rich & fresh food, while at the same time reducing the carbon food miles. Sounds like a Win-Win situation to us! #Hydroponic #Aeroponic #AeroFarm #FutureFood #GreenRevolution #GrownLocal #SupportLocalGrown https://youtube/watch?v=EXwMM5ra_mU
