In an undercover investigation beginning in October 2012,in Miami-Dade, Florida on a Richard Couto, founder of Animal Recovery Mission, an investigative animal welfare organization, secret videos were recorded of the inhumane slaughter of fully conscious animals in what has been described as the most barbaric methods by "violent dangerous criminals." Farm animals were stabbed, skinned while still alive, suspended by their hind legs and sliced up, and water boarded. One heartbreaking video of a rabbit hit in the back and slammed to the ground yet still wide awake showed him writhing in agony as his tormentors skinned him alive. As Couto stated, these men "got enjoyment" out of torturing the animals and letting these innocent victims suffer such excruciating pain that death was their only kind salvation.
