According to Senior Superintendent Steve McGregor who heads the the West Kingston Police, the curfews were imposed based on threat levels. “People from the wider Denham Town area have been writing graffiti all over the community saying that they don’t want to be under any order, that they want freedom and that they want to move on with their lives they have also written up names. As a result of that we have heard that meetings have been kept with people who think that this move is disrespectful and what they are planning to do, so we are taking pre-emptive measures,” In one of the moves to stamp out gang activitiy, the police and military also conducted a major operation in Tivoli Gardens on Thursday morning under Operation Resilience as they searched for men behind the violence in West Kingston.
