In ancient Greece Athena was a deity associated with wisdom, intelligence and knowledge. As such Wisdom was prized over material wealth by many of our ancient ancestors. To understand the world that we live in, we must first understand how the past is still relevant in the present. To know that the form of slavery that persists today is to know the mental chains (mental limitations) that have replaced physical chains. For example, my son wants to become a professional footballer. As such he shall be stepping into the Coliseum to gain his freedom from serfdom. As the Olympian games in honour of the Greek deity Zeus, where participants gain their freedom from paying taxes and gain riches. For the Greeks believed that physical strength was a gift from the Gods. Regardless of any sport that is played in an arena, the same principles apply as it did back then, as they do now. In essence thats why we see sports personalities and celebrities (immortals/idols) earn huge amounts of money, with (the financial-material) freedom that most dont or cant even begin to imagine. In essence many great thinkers such as Plato attempted to reveal the plight of humanity through his works and allegories. One of my favourite allegories is that of Platos cave. As such we should not cast pearls at swine, in other words do not offer wisdom to those that are blinded by their Egos for it will make them proud. A seed cannot grow unless the soil is fertile, as such wisdom cannot grow unless the mind is ready to listen. Let those who seek wisdom enter of their own accord and free will.
