In art, most mistakes are created by line, value, and intensity. - TopicsExpress

In art, most mistakes are created by line, value, and intensity. In life, lines are almost non existent, colors are very neutral, and there is not a lot of darkness in shadows. Everything is subtle, soft, and non intense. In landscape paintings, intensity (chroma) is caused by sunlight. Skies are closest to the sun, and therefore will have the most intense colors aside from certain botanical elements. Clouds that are near or in direct path of the sun will have the most intense colors at certain times of the day. What happens when there is too much intensity? How do you know? Your painting will look more like a cartoon.
