In captive animals, both domesticated and wild, aberrant behaviors - TopicsExpress

In captive animals, both domesticated and wild, aberrant behaviors often pop up as a result of hardwired instincts not being fulfilled. A dog will bark incessantly, cats often mark in unacceptable places. The smarter and more emotionally evolved an animal is, the more intense these behaviors will be. Captive birds often pluck their own feathers or mutilate their flesh. Captive primates will do the same, or become uncontrollably aggressive. It leads me to wonder if thats what is happening to humans. If our lack of instinctual fulfillment has led us to self destruction. If having our food packaged and easily accessible , our every wish for entertainment at our fingertips has resulted in depression, substance abuse, insomnia, eating disorders, anxiety and panic issues and aggression. ....our relationships and daily interactions have become likes and shares and quick texts full of emoticons instead of face to face encounters full of emotions and real conversation. I am as guilty as the next person. Perhaps more so. So, heres to awareness. Heres to connecting with people that I havent made time for. Heres to being me, realizing whats important and getting it done.
