In case anyone else was wondering why Stockton council wont accept carrier bags in the kerbside recycling any more (yes, I know it was just me. Shut up), heres the main of the email they sent me this morning: Carrier bags will no longer be taken as part of our kerbside recycling scheme, unfortunately this option is no longer available to us. Instead they will now be taken from the standard green refuse bin. Waste from this bin is taken to our local energy from waste site, treated and then incinerated, contributing towards renewable energy. Fortunately, advancements in waste disposal have meant that we have significantly reduced the amount of waste which goes to landfill.
