In case anyone missed this research training/work experience opportunity - deadline is 3rd Feb Best Toby Selling to Both Sides: the arms trade during the First World War is a project that will highlight the parallels between the arms trade in 1914 and now, with a particular focus on opposition to the arms trade during and after the war. On the Record Community Interest Company and Campaign Against Arms Trade are looking for research volunteers. The role will include: Traveling to meetings and local archive libraries Finding relevant archival sources and using them to uncover case studies using written, photographic and oral evidence. For example, the experiences and attitudes of munitions workers during the First World War. Researching and summarising case studies Sharing information youve uncovered with others. These case studies will contribute to a dedicated website on arms sales during the First World War. Individuals will be expected to volunteer eight days of research time over a two month period from the 25 February 2014. This will include an induction (on the 25 February), opportunities to discuss your findings with fellow volunteers and arms trade researchers and opportunities for accompanied trips to archives with hands-on-training. Additionally, the role could also include taking part in discussions with young people about the material you have uncovered, and recording these discussions, or the results of your own research, as a podcast for use on a dedicated website.
