(In case anyone wondered who I learned collaborative storytelling from) Donovan: There was an old cat who lived on a mat. My Mom: She said How come I always have to live on something that rhymes? I want to sit on a nest. D: But she couldnt find a bird big enough to lift her; the only one big enough flew away and hid. M: The cat said Thats ok, Ill sleep in the refrigerator instead. D: But that was too cold, so she ran away to find a new home. M: She tried out a cows barn and settled in the hay. D: But that was too tickly, so she ran away. M: She needed a warm place to have her kittens, so she tried out a cave. D: But the cave was too cold, so the cat didnt like that. M: So she went to the Emergency Room at the hospital to have her kittens. D: But the people chased her away because of the cat hair she was shedding. M: So she gathered her cat hair into a pillow case to make a soft cushion. D: A dog came chasing across her cushion, chased by a much bigger dog. M: This is not a good place to deliver kittens, said the cat. D: But soon the dogs were gone, so she went back to the pillow until the janitor noticed her. M: The janitor gave her cat food. D: The cat thanked the janitor (in its own language). M: Then the janitor took the cat and her kittens home to his two little boys. D: And they put the cat on a nice cozy mat. Cat: *siiiiiiigh*
