In case folks didnt see this posted to my wall earlier...my brilliant former student Irene Arellano posted this to my wall.... This is BS...absolute BS. Only in the U.S. did we invent a medical reason for circumcision!!! Our other First World and developed counterparts do not believe in the benefits of this horrendous procedure. Strange if science is universal...scientific truth would be the across borders!!!! And check out who they blame for the lowering rates of the practice: It gradually became the cultural norm, and in the 1950s and 1960s surpassed 80 percent. But then the trend reversed. Part of it had to do with changing demographics, as the U.S. population grew to include larger numbers of Mexican-Americans and other ethnic groups that didnt traditionally circumcise their children. Dont be surprised if there is a major campaign TARGETING Latinos...Dont be surprised.
