Our Cancer Institute has been blessed with philanthropic support to accomplish goals that are unique in the region and serve to distinguish us from other centers. These dollars enhance the cancer journey for both our patients and ourselves. While the examples are numerous, please be reminded that the ability to harvest and bank tumors and characterize a genomic signature for each, free of any expense, is unmatched. One of our signature events has been Lungs4Life, an event hosted and supported by the Halter family. Important changes this year include the expansion to support other cancers in what is now Run4Life. Secondly, GHS Cancer Institute will be the principle beneficiary of the dollars raised and finally, GHS has assumed the responsibility for the race. This is a treasured gift from the Halter family and we need to respond in earnest. A portion of the dollars raised will still go to the Caine Halter Lung Cancer research fund here at the institute.
