In case you are thinking of visiting us @ the Kameli Cottage, please be advised that we have finally moved. For two people, who have been literally born and raise within the Suva City boundaries, moving to somewhere halfway between Suva and Nausori is something absolutely new and fresh. After 7:00 pm, it is absolutely quite in this new neighbourhood and there are no “durunicinas” to go hangout and no place to play touch rugby. You don’t get to hear children being beaten up after failing to come home early, or someone telling someone else off with the whole neighbourhood listening, or someone just telling stories to another person who is standing in the distance, and you don’t getting to hear yelping of poor dogs just being greeted with a stone or a boiling water shock shower. Kameli Cottage, while having served its purpose for us, is a box compared to this house. In Kameli, a step to the right and you are in the kitchen, one to the left and you are on on top of the bed. In this new house, we are playing hide and seek.....hihihi.....and we are loving it. Yesterday, I scouted the area, went thru a settlement, crossed a bridge and discovered a village I have never heard of. Today, I am taking a different route and getting to know the place more. I also got to know the neighbours yesterday and am already invited to be their guest for Diwali. Now how cool is that.
