In case you didnt know, my group of friends on fb stretches through several different demographics. Because of that, I have seen a great deal of reactions from the Jordan Davis verdict. Take a look at a couple of points. The main one being that using the gun in the commission of a felony in Florida carries a mandatory sentence. Michael Dunn is 47. He will get 20 years each for the three attempted murder charges and 15 for the last charge. Thats 75 years! He will die in prison. As for the murder 1 charge, he was not acquitted, the result was hung jury. He can be retried, by why take the family through the stress of another trial when there is no need? Should his mother have to go through story after story of her sons last breath because a few of you are up in arms about the decision? Check her reaction. The jury has to be unanimous. That means that it took only one juror to determine that there was reasonable doubt and not vote for conviction. The jury did not have advantage of the great deal of evidence that we got bombarded with from television and social media. They had to make a decision based on the facts with which they were presented in the courtroom. They deliberated for four days on those facts. What would 12 random people gain from acquitting a murderer? Save the conspiracy theory. It is what it is. If there was a shortcoming, it was in the prosecution or better yet the circumstances. I have lived in Jacksonville for 17 years, I lived in Hampton Roads Virginia for 10 years and I grew up in Gary, Indiana. I have also travelled all over the world. Florida is no more racist than any other place I have ever lived or visited. The jury deliberated on what they were presented with and came up with the best decision that they could. Live with it.
